Maundy Money
David has had classier horses in his care than Maundy Money, but few have attracted the cult following that he did. Having had just two runs of limited promise for Mark Johnston in Britain, David bought Maundy Money for just £4,500 as a two-year-old. In a remarkable career thereafter, he won 10 times including multiple successes at the high-profile summer festivals at Galway, Killarney and Listowel. As much an anything, Maundy Money illustrated the skill that David has for keeping his horses sweet for years on end, as he gained three of his 10 career wins as a 10-year-old. He was retired sound in 2014 having earned his owners over £150,000.
